As more and more NATO “wunderwaffe” burn in the fields of Ukraine and the IOF’s multi-million dollar US designed weapons are defeated by the dozen by Palestinians with homemade rockets, the arms dealers and their lackeys in government are getting nervous.
Decades of well funded propaganda based on slaughtering farmers and children has given NATO equipment a reputation for invincibility, and each time a new weapon is transferred to Ukraine, the usual suspects come out of the woodwork, loudly declaring that THIS TIME, the new weapon will kill Russians by the millions and win the war by the end of the week.
In reality, the result of these transfers is always the same. On the rare occasion that the overweight and fragile goliaths can even make it to the battlefield, they burn just the same as everything else.
In under a month since their first use, the Russian Army has already destroyed 1/3rd of the Abrams tanks sent to Ukraine. The losses have come quickly and in bunches. Desperate to stem their collapse, the Kiev junta sent the American tanks into the breach at Avdeyevka, where four of them were destroyed in a single day. This represents over 1/10th of the UA’s Abrams fleet, a literal decimation in it’s first battlefield use.
As the production lines for new Abrams tanks have been shut down for decades, each Abrams lost is gone for good. Since 1996, the US has done nothing but refurbish and upgrade decommissioned Abrams to new specs. Destroyed tanks cannot be repaired or replaced, unlike the “primitive” Russian tanks which are built by the hundred.
The Challenger 2 is so unreliable that the Ukrainian army cannot even use them, so overweight that it cannot drive offroad, and the thick frontal armor does nothing to protect them from cheap Russian mines and drones hitting from the bottom and rear. The specifications on paper are meaningless in a real war, where things like reliability, ease of repair and even simple weight of numbers matter far more than the thickness of armor or power of the gun. Russian forces need only to wait for the obese giant to break down, run out of fuel or get stuck miles away from the battlefield, just like the Elefants and Tigers of old. Far from being an invincible tank, the Challenger 2 is so unsuited for real war that it defeats itself without firing a shot.
The Leopard 2, considered by many propagandists to be the best tank in the world, has utterly failed in Ukraine. Already, half of Ukraine’s fleet of Leopards have been permanently destroyed, and many of the rest are being cannibalized for parts. Adding to the attrition, Ukrainian mechanics struggle to repair the overly complex behemoths and have to ship many of them back to depots in Europe for weeks and months at a time, meaning that the usable strength is even less. The German ruling class has ignored the hard earned lessons of their grandfathers and are now surprised to once again see expensive, unreliable iron cross emblazoned panzers burning in the fields of Ukraine, destroyed by the superior tactics of the “untermensch” and their “primitive” but effective weapons.
When looking at the hundreds of millions of our tax dollars burning in a field to fight a war which never should have happened, we must ask ourselves how we got here. The answer is, this is nothing new. The evidence is much harder to hide now, but a look behind the curtain shows us that this is the end result of decades of toxic arms acquisition deals and political graft designed to create an army who’s primary goal is to maximize shareholder profits, not win wars.
Unreliable, unnecessary and ineffective weapons are sold at the highest possible prices, with the contractors relying on further contracts to fix the faulty products they knowingly delivered. No matter how many people die due to this criminal negligence, a combination of unrestrained monopoly and simple bribery mean that the arms dealers operate with complete impunity and dictate terms to their loyal servants in the Pentagon and Congress.
To see the genesis of this system we must take a step back into history and look at a few other of the boondoggles the military industrial complex has created, and the lack of any consequences for doing so.
