I do agree with Larry that the US Military lacks actual combat experience. The last time America faced a functional Army was 2003. The last time if faced a functional air force with in the late 1990's. The last time it faced a functional Navy was in the late 1980's. This is significant because the longest military careers are usually 20 years. With very few exceptions, no one in today's American military has every faced off against an actual opposing military; it has been nothing but insurgents. In Iraq it was at least insurgents who had access to some military grade munitions, but in Afghanistan the insurgents had to home make their own explosives.

I have no doubt that in all the NTC rotations that the "experts" participated in, and in all computer simulations on the subject (provided the "correct" data gets fed in) the US handily defeats Russia and China while invading North Korea and Iran, but the real world may not be so kind. Which is probably why Russia does not want a full scale war with NATO as it would probably result in NATO dropping multiple tactical nukes when they figure out that they are fighting someone who actually shoots back.
